beautiful design. I actually messed up some of the colors so there's kind of a 3d effect where I just needlepointed right over the bad parts :-D

I forgot whose original design this is, the search function on this site is ridiculous. When I find out who it was I'll update the listing.

Update: Found it! It's by NevaSirenda

Faux marble plaque by Arulein
Faux marble plaque
This is actually a small wooden plaque from the art store that I repainted to resemble a marble inlay. I love this technique. I'm putting together a tutorial on how to do it. It's really easy and super fun. When I get the tutorial done I'll post a link to it.

I love finding faces in things. This was at a huge flea market. Goofiest face I've seen in awhile. Hyuk hyuk. Hurr Durr.

Trust No One by Simanion
What I like most is that even without the title attached I could figure out the subject. Masks over masks, each more false than the next. Eyes all over the hindquarters. No real feet, looks like it would wobble horribly: it does not walk it's own walk OR talk its own talk. The decolletage looks normal until you look deeper and it's shiny eyes with crosshairs and more gritted teeth all the way down.

The only thing that doesn't work for me is the color contrast on the main body, the red and pink, while it feels like rawness, like flesh laid bare, it's just a little too tight in the palette. The blue and orange should complement perfectly but the balance of the two is off a little too much on the warm side. I think it represents false warmness, but it should feel falser (colder) if that's the case.

Overall a wonderful representation. I keep finding new things when I go back to look at it. The stubby tail that resembles a dessert is hilariously on point. I can see this creature in a reboot of Yellow Submarine, as something a Blue Meanie would ride into battle.
if you're here because you're backtracking a llama or a fave, welcome. I don't do much art very often but art makes me happy. If I like something I will fave it and comment. If I really really like something--if it made me happy, or laugh, or smile, or nod--then I will give you a llama.

I do not expect llamas back, although they are much appreciated. I do not give llamas to people who randomly give me llamas expecting them back. I do not give llamas for llamas. I give llamas for art.

Art can be an oil painting or a stick figure cartoon. Or anything in the spectrum between. My favorites folder is full of things that I liked, but they're not all that I liked. They are what I liked at the moment I saw them.

Sometimes I wish I could give two llamas for a piece. Or one really big llama. But I don't have points to give. All I have are llamas.

They are however very pretty and exceptionally well behaved llamas. They will make fine additions to your herds.

And now, a very old rhyme, a mnemonic to remember how to spell llama:

A one L lama, he's a priest
A two L llama, he's a beast
and a three L lamma is a VERY big fire.

(say it out loud if you don't get it.)
  • Eating: mmm cookies
  • Drinking: coffee what else

you're welcome! your art makes me smile, your pixel designs are very intricate, especially when you're using beads which is a much more limited palette than say cross stitch. Keep up the good work!
